Chris & Hannah’s Story
From a Yurt to a “Yes!”
If you had told either of us that a yurt trip in 2022 would change our lives forever, we probably would have laughed. A snowy weekend yurt trip with friends became the start of our adventure.
Dave was Chris’s friend from college, and Bri was Hannah’s childhood friend. The plan for the weekend was simple. Chris and Hannah would join Dave and Bri for a fun weekend of cross-country skiing and games. Before Chris had even unpacked at the yurt, Dave and Bri asked Chris if he’d officiate their upcoming wedding. Chris was honored, but told Dave and Bri he’d prefer if someone else took the reins. Dave and Bri told Chris that they were also considering asking Hannah and that if she agreed to officiate, Chris could be allowed to bow out. Hannah then arrived and said she’d happily officiate their wedding.
Though it wasn’t clear in the moment, the seeds of our love story were quietly planted on our Yurt-trip weekend.
The weekend was filled with fun, laughter, skiing and (according to Hannah) Hannah filled the weekend flirting with Chris. Chris was oblivious. While Chris and Hannah had a great weekend, they packed up at the end of the trip and went their separate ways.
Chris and Hannah wouldn’t meet again until August 2023 at Dave and Bri’s wedding. They both showed up in their respective roles: Chris, a guest, and Hannah, the now-official officiant. The day before the wedding, they connected and laughed about how Hannah had only been asked to officiate because Chris passed up the role…Something that wasn’t clear to Hannah when she initially accepted Dave and Bri’s offer. This little moment of shared history sparked something, and the flirting resumed—this time, Chris actually noticed.
The night of Dave and Bri’s wedding was special. Chris and Hannah danced, laughed, and shut down the party together. Chris promised to make Hannah a pair of shoes and as the night ended, Chris had a feeling he couldn’t shake. This couldn’t be the last time he’d see Hannah. The next morning, many of Dave and Bri’s wedding guests hung out together before heading home. Before Chris said goodbye to everyone, he walked up to Hannah, said he had a great time and casually suggested that, “We should go on an adventure sometime.”
In the following days, Chris and Hannah started talking on the phone regularly. After many long conversations, laughter, and connection, our relationship was starting to build into something deeper. A week later, Chris unexpectedly had a free weekend and decided to shoot his shot. He asked Hannah if she wanted to go on a camping date. Yes, their first real date was a last-minute camping trip in the mountains. (In hindsight, definitely a bold move.)
To Chris’ delight, Hannah said yes.
That weekend turned out to be something special. They had a fun evening under the stars, and the next day was even better: a spontaneous swim in a freezing alpine lake, sun on our faces, and just enjoying the time together.
From there, our relationship unfolded fast in the best kind of way. Dates to comedy shows, Denver museums, electric scooter rides, and road trips filled our days. Every adventure, both big and small, brought us closer.
By April of 2024, Hannah moved from Denver to be in Laramie with Chris. Chris and Hannah settled into their life together, and we never stopped the adventures.
In June came a road trip we’ll never forget.
In Glacier National Park, surrounded by towering peaks and waterfalls, Chris proposed to Hannah and asked her to join him on the “adventure of a lifetime.” She said yes.
We tied the knot in mid-May during an intimate ceremony in Boulder, CO, with just our immediate family. It was simple, meaningful, and filled with love.
In the past month, Hannah has started a new job, we moved to Fort Collins, CO, to be closer to our families, and we have had an action-packed start to our married life.
We’re so excited to share this next chapter with all of our family and friends. Thanks for all your support in our journey and for being a part of our story.
With love,
Chris & Hannah
